We arrived at London's Heathrow on the afternoon of May 15th and were picked up by my cousin Lis. The reason for our trip to Europe was to attend her son Mathew's wedding on the 17th. As you can imagine, there was a lot of excitement and nervous energy with the wedding just 2 days away. The wedding took place at the historic Beaumont Estate located just outside of Old Windsor. It was a lovely ceremony in an outstanding setting.
Built in 1790 as a country house set in 40 acres of parkland backed onto the Great Park of Windsor Castle, it became known as "The White House". The estate was sold to the Jesuits in 1854 and turned into a school for boys. As subsequent buildings were added the populations of students increased from 23 to 280. In 1967 the school closed and went through several owners until 2003 when it was acquired by Hayley Conference Centers who set about restoring and expanding the facilities to its present state of grandness. Our suite is located within the top two windows on the left.
